Silver jewellery-making workshop

In October, we had our final 'Cathartic' art group session. We decided to use the last funds to do a jewellery-making session at 'The Jewellery Maker', Lancaster. The setting was great - an old barn tucked away behind a row of houses in Bowerham.

In two sessions, Delia showed us how to make silver rings, which turned out to be more time-consuming than anticipated. This involved bending and hammering the metal into shape, then welding two ends together, then lots and lots of sanding and polishing.

We all came away with bespoke rings, and a new appreciation of the art of silver-smithing!
